Mental Health Services
A comprehensive, community mental health center located on the FSI Gaithersburg Nonprofit Village campus offers a full range of psychiatric assessment and treatment services.
A community, recovery-focused psychiatric rehabilitation program serving adults in Montgomery County with mental illness—services include a day program, residential rehabilitation, a mental health vocational program, and support for independent living. Four HUD, Section 811 projects are operated.

A community, recovery-focused psychiatric rehabilitation program serving transitional age youth (18-24) in Montgomery County with mental illness is provided. Services include a day program, residential rehabilitation, a mental health vocational program, and support for independent living.
Partnering with area hospitals in the wider Maryland metropolitan region, services are geared toward preventing unnecessary hospital readmissions for patients through case management and coordinated care.
A community-based, residential group home serving young men from throughout Maryland provides counseling and related services to juvenile justice youth involved with a variety of problems, including minor sexual offenses. Services are provided from a balanced and restorative justice model.
Provides certified care specialists, registered nurses, entitlements specialists and other healthcare professionals to help manage your overall health and wellness. Health Home provides a unique opportunity to combine health and mental health care, addressing behavioral, physical and social needs.
Substance Abuse Services
This satellite clinic in Germantown offers an array of integrated behavioral health services designed for adults, youth, and families with primary and co-occurring substance use problems.
An adolescent recovery club house located in Gaithersburg providing recovery support and related services to youth who are currently in substance abuse treatment or those recently discharged from treatment.
Community Support Services
Relocation and renter assistance and help in applying for county rental subsidy programs, eviction prevention, money/debt management, and other services, are provided for Gaithersburg residents.
The Coalition for the Advancement of Financial Education promotes high quality financial education for county residents by providing the tools for making informed decisions about saving, spending, borrowing, and managing credit.
FSI and the Maryland CASH (Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope) Academy Program offers free financial education workshops in English and Spanish within the Gaithersburg community.
Working with Montgomery and Prince George's County officials and other connector entities, recruitment and enrollment under the Affordable Care Act is provided for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange as well as expanded Maryland Medicaid.
In partnership with Montgomery County and other nonprofits, the "NON" located on the FSI Nonprofit Village Campus in Gaithersburg provides assistance for emergency services—utilities, rent, food, health care, legal matters, foreclosure prevention, free financial literacy workshops, and workforce development.
A medical day program is provided, serving Montgomery County adults, many of whom are senior citizens with health problems—physical and/or psychiatric—often with cognitive and intellectual impairment.
The Housing Initiative Program (HIP) is designed to reduce the incidence of homelessness in Montgomery County by providing permanent supportive housing.
Early Childhood Services
A fee-based high quality childcare program for pre-school children, as well as before and after school care for children, is provided in the Clarksburg community.
Home-based child development and parent support is provided for low income families with children aged 0 to 3; the Discovery Station Child Development Center located on the FSI Gaithersburg Nonprofit Village campus serves 28 children of parenting teens.
A nationally accredited bilingual home visiting service in Montgomery County is provided for first-time parents who are experiencing multiple life stressors.
FSI provides professional training, mentoring, and mental health consultation services to home visitors and childcare providers throughout Montgomery County.
With support from the City of Gaithersburg, the center at Gaithersburg Elementary School helps Spanish and English speaking parents and individuals access services and pursue educational goals for themselves and their children.
A family-focused, 10 week prevention program is provided at three Montgomery County elementary schools to help families with preschoolers improve parent and child interactions.
Universal, hospital-based health screenings, and resource referral and service linkage for new mothers and their babies are provided at Shady Grove Adventist and Holy Cross Hospitals.
Through the provision of mentoring and academic supports at Gaithersburg High School, BROTHERS helps young men find the discipline and confidence to make safe and positive life choices.
A comprehensive arrary of school-based mental health services is provided in five elementary and two middle schools in Montgomery County. Services include individual, family and group therapy; psychiatric assessment and intervention; case management; and, prevention/early intervention services.
Prevention and early intervention youth and family services are offered in the upper areas of Montgomery County providing evidence-based services to strengthen individual and family resiliency through our "Youth Service Bureaus" and centers.
Victim and Domestic Violence Services
Women and children fleeing and recovering from domestic violence, as well as sexual assault, and human trafficking, are provided a refuge. With the support of the Montgomery County Abused Persons Program, FSI operates the 54 bed Betty Ann Krahnke Center, an emergency, short-term residential shelter where women can heal and begin planning for a safer future for themselves and their children. Interventions include case management, professional group and individual counseling, advocacy, safety planning, and limited child care services—all from a trauma-informed orientation.
Provides home-based services to Montgomery County families at low to moderate risk for child maltreatment and/or abuse utilizing an evidence-based family skills training program along with other social supports and resources.
