Byron House Assisted Living Residents Donates Over One-Hundred Hand-Made Baby Bonnets and Scarves to Family Services, Inc.

Date: Nov 10, 2011

(Gaithersburg, MD) - Byron House Assisted Living Residents have been busy over the last year, crocheting and knitting over one-hundred baby bonnets and scarves for infants and toddlers to donate to families in need. This year the residents selected Family Services, Inc. (FSI) to donate their hand-made crafts, specifically for the children served through FSI’s various early childhood development programs.

Byron House Assisted Living is part of Victory Housing, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable assisted living to seniors. Victory Housing is a development Arm of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C.

Sharon Borowiec, Director of Byron House, is very proud of what her residents have accomplished. “My residents are very excited to be able to make this generous donation.” The residents knitted and crocheted squares, and then a staff family member would sew them into beautiful bonnets and scarves.

“Family Services is extremely delighted to receive such a charitable donation from the seniors at Byron House,” said Wendy Enderson, Director of Marketing and Communications for Family Services. “They worked tirelessly to make sure that little heads and necks will be kept warm this winter, and the children and families we serve are very appreciative for their efforts.”

A presentation was made to Family Services on November 10, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Byron House, 9210 Kentsdale Drive, Potomac, Maryland 20854. Byron House will continue creating these wonderful and warm pieces and accepts any donations of yarn so their residents can continue this charitable work.
